Conservative commentator Katie Zacharia has been named the new White House press secretary, a role the White House official confirmed to the BBC.
Zacharia, who works as a communications adviser for Trump Media & Style, brings a brief stint as DHS spokesperson and a history of appearances on conservative talk shows.
Her appointment follows the departure of Karoline Leavitt, who left for a position at Fox News, and makes her the sixth press secretary to serve under President Trump across his two-term campaigns.
The role will have her managing media relations, briefing the President, and coordinating with other White House teams amid a highly scrutinised press environment.
