Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that a peace agreement aimed at ending the conflict with Russia is '90% ready' in his recent New Year address. He highlighted that the remaining portion of the agreement would significantly influence the future stability and safety of Ukraine and Europe.

In contrast, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his own New Year speech, expressed his confidence in victory, affirming his support for Russian troops.

The situation remains tense, as Russia claims to have evidence of Ukrainian drone attacks targeting Putin's private residence, assertions that Ukrainian officials have categorically denied. Moscow shared a map alleging that these drones were launched from regions within Ukraine, alongside footage claiming to show wreckage from such an attack.

In his address, Zelensky emphasized Ukraine's resolve to achieve peace that does not require sacrificing its territory. He referenced the ongoing control issues in the Donbas region, which has become a significant hurdle in negotiations.

Meanwhile, the fate of the peace talks appears uncertain, particularly with Russia's recent drone incident claims, which the Kremlin suggests may necessitate a reevaluation of peace negotiations.

As Ukraine seeks to involve U.S. and European officials in resuming and expediting discussions this month, French President Emmanuel Macron indicated upcoming commitments aimed at securing Ukraine's peace and stability.
