At night on June 10, Ukraine launched FP‑5 Flamingo cruise missiles that struck the VNIIR‑Progress drone and missile plant in Cheboksary, Chuvash Republic, more than 900 km from the front line, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced.
Local officials reported three people injured by the missile strike, while the damage to the military plant was not confirmed. The plant supplies components for Russian drones and missiles.
Ukraine also said it hit occupied Mariupol on the Sea of Azov, a Russian oil refinery in Samara, and a “shadow fleet” oil tanker in the Black Sea.
In recent months, the Ukrainian military has intensified drone strikes on key Russian facilities, targeting energy sites that sustain the war effort.
Russia’s military reported that its air‑defense units intercepted or shot down 326 Ukrainian drones. Ukraine’s air force, meanwhile, claimed it downed 181 of 207 drones fired during the same period, with 21 direct hits in 14 locations.
The most recent clashes left at least two people dead and 26 injured, including two children, across four Ukrainian regions.
The FP‑5 Flamingo missile carries a 1,150‑kilogram warhead and reportedly has a 3,000‑km range, capable of reaching Moscow and other major Russian cities.
Ukraine continues to develop additional missile types with support from Western allies, aiming to raise the cost of the Russian invasion and push for a settlement.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has so far rejected all negotiation proposals and insists that Russian troops are advancing everywhere, despite evidence of a largely static front line.
