At least three Palestinian women have been killed and eight more injured after missile debris hit a beauty salon in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) says. The PRCS reported that shrapnel struck the salon located in Beit Awwa, near Hebron, in the southern West Bank.

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa stated that fragments landed on a metal caravan used as a salon, alongside several other locations in the region. This incident occurred shortly after the Israeli military announced that Iran had launched missiles aimed at Israel, which they were attempting to intercept.

Wafa identified the deceased as Mais Ghazi Masalmeh, 17, Sahira Rizq Masalmeh, 50, and 36-year-old Amal Sobhi Abdel Karim Matawa' Masalmeh. PRCS response teams, which included at least five ambulances, rushed to the scene only to find numerous casualties and injuries. The bodies of the three women were transferred to a local hospital, along with others who suffered critical and moderate wounds.

Initially, the PRCS reported four fatalities before correcting the death toll to three. They expressed that rescue crews faced considerable challenges reaching the site due to restricted access, which significantly impacted the time they had to save the injured.

The BBC has reached out to the Israeli military for comments regarding this tragic incident.
