In brief

Parliamentarian David Arakhamia confirmed a ceasefire and said evacuations were underway in Oleshky, Kherson, a town held by Russian forces since February 2022. 527 residents are slated to return to Ukrainian-controlled territory through Belarus for medical care and supplies, while aid is being distributed amid an ongoing humanitarian crisis.

At 19:59 UTC on Oct. 30, 2026, a Ukrainian delegation reported that evacuations were underway in the frontline town of Oleshky, Kherson, amid a temporary ceasefire.

Parliamentary official David Arakhamia posted on Telegram that the ceasefire was still in effect and that additional details would follow.

“The ceasefire remains in effect. Further details will follow,”

Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi said 527 residents were expected to return to Ukrainian‑controlled territory from Belarus, where they would receive medical examinations, care and essential supplies.

The delegation, led by Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets, arrived Thursday and secured permission after an agreement with Russian Commissioner for Human Rights Yana Lantratova, with the support and coordination of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump.

Oleshky, on the left bank of the Dnieper and home to about 2,000 people, has been under Russian control since February 2022 and faces acute shortages of food, medicine and other essentials.

Humanitarian aid is currently being distributed inside the town as the ceasefire remains in effect until 10:59 p.m. Moscow time (1959 GMT) on Nov. 1, per Russian officials.

This operation follows the fourth day of a localized ceasefire that selectively allows aid deliveries and civilian evacuations.

Interfax‑Ukraine reports that the evacuation mission aims to provide medical care, supplies and temporary accommodation for those displaced, while Russian side confirms the ceasefire timeline.
