In brief

Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarea announced that the movement had intelligence on a Saudi military command network operating across Yemen’s government-held territories and warned it would continue to pursue Saudi personnel and facilities. The claim, made on X, was unverified and drew no immediate comment from Saudi Arabia or Yemen’s internationally recognized government. Other reports show the Houthis executing missile and drone strikes on Saudi oil infrastructure and airfields, signaling a broader intensification of hostilities.

Yemen’s Houthi movement said on Friday it had gathered intelligence on a Saudi military command network operating across government‑held areas of Yemen and threatened to target the network. According to Xinhua, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea posted the claim on the social‑media platform X, stating the group had obtained details about the “operational management and field military command” of Saudi forces in Yemen.

Sarea said the network included command and support structures and operational bases in the southern port city of Aden, the oil-rich provinces of Shabwa, Marib and Hadramout, the eastern province of Al‑Mahrah and the Socotra archipelago. He warned, without providing evidence, that the Houthis would continue to “pursue and target” Saudi military personnel and facilities, urging civilians to stay away from areas likely to be affected.

The claim could not be independently verified, and neither Saudi Arabia nor Yemen’s internationally recognized government replied to the allegation immediately. Xinhua noted that the statement comes amid an escalation in fighting between the Houthis and government forces backed by the Saudi‑led coalition, including Saudi airstrikes in Yemen and Houthi missile and drone attacks on government‑held areas and on targets inside Saudi Arabia.

In line with a broader pattern of Houthi strikes, other sources reported that the movement has claimed responsibility for attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure, including the Ras Tanura refinery, Aramco facilities in Abqaiq and the Rabigh oil complex, as well as a drone strike on Saudi Abha airport. Iran International, citing Houthi statements, said the group “would continue military operations deep inside Saudi” until what it described as Saudi aggression and the blockade of Yemen ended. Roya News and The Asian Globe also reported Houthi missile and drone attacks on Saudi military and civilian targets, though Saudi officials have not confirmed the extent of these strikes.

These developments reflect the ongoing volatility in Yemen, where the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and much of the north in late 2014, prompting the Saudi‑led intervention in 2015 to support the internationally recognized government. The latest Houthi threat highlights the possibility of a direct attack on the Saudi command infrastructure that maintains control over critical regions within Yemen.
