In brief

China’s $30 million grant to Nigeria was signed on Oct. 30 at the Nigerian Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning in Abuja, and is part of a long‑standing partnership to share poverty‑alleviation experience. Chinese Ambassador Yu Dunhai highlighted that the grant will fund "small but beautiful" projects requiring limited investment, while Nigerian Minister Abubakar Bagudu praised the agreement as evidence of strong bilateral relations. Other outlets, including BizWatchNigeria and PrimePost, also reported the signing and the amount, though with fewer details.

China signed a $30‑million U.S. dollar grant agreement with Nigeria on Thursday, Oct. 30, at the Nigerian Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning in Abuja, according to a Xinhua report. The grant will fund small‑scale development projects across the country.

At the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria Yu Dunhai said China had already donated about 200 million yuan—roughly $29.8 million—toward Nigeria’s economic and social development and praised the new grant as supporting "small but beautiful" projects that require limited investment but deliver quick results and improve livelihoods.

"The grant will support 'small but beautiful' projects requiring limited investment, delivering quick results and improving people's livelihoods," said Yu.

Nigeria’s Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Abubakar Bagudu expressed deep appreciation for China’s continued support, describing the new agreement as "evidence of strong bilateral relations and shared development objectives". He noted that more than 8,809 grassroots interventions have already been recorded under existing economic support programs and urged productive use of the grant.

"It is evidence of strong bilateral relations and shared development objectives," Bagudu said.

Other reports, including those from BizWatchNigeria and PrimePost, also noted the $30 million Chinese grant to Nigeria and its signing date, though they provide fewer specifics about the project details or the previous 200‑million‑yuan donation.
