Large protests against the Trump administration are taking place in cities across the US, marking the third iteration of No Kings rallies that have previously drawn crowds into the millions.

Organisers say they are protesting against policies imposed by US President Donald Trump, including the war in Iran, federal immigration enforcement, and the rising cost of living.

Trump wants to rule over us as a tyrant. But this is America, and power belongs to the people - not to wannabe kings or their billionaire cronies, organisers said.

Trump allies have previously denounced the No Kings protests as the hate America rally and accused participants of being linked to the far-left Antifa movement.

Demonstrations are occurring in nearly every major US city, with rallies already underway in locations like Washington D.C., where protesters are gathering at the Lincoln Memorial and National Mall. Like in earlier protests, some are holding effigies of Trump and calling for their ousting.

Events are also anticipated in cities like Boston, Nashville, and Houston, with American expats joining in protests abroad in cities such as Paris and London, expressing discontent with Trump's leadership.

Conditions have prompted some US states to mobilise the National Guard, yet organisers maintain that these protests are peaceful and focused on addressing significant societal issues.

Critics of the Trump administration continue to warn that several executive actions by the president reflect an unconstitutional concentration of power, undermining the principles of American democracy.
