In brief
Singapore will open Bedok South, Xilin and Sungei Bedok stations on Dec. 26, 2026, linking the Thomson‑East Coast and Downtown Lines. The commuter infrastructure expansion, announced by Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow during Singapore Urban Mobility Week, will provide more travel options and shorter journey times for eastern residents. The move is part of a broader plan that will add lines such as the Jurong Region Line and Cross Island Line in subsequent years.
Singapore will open three new Mass Rapid Transit stations on Dec. 26, 2026, according to Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow, who announced the development during Singapore Urban Mobility Week.
The new stations are Bedok South on the Thomson‑East Coast Line, Xilin on the Downtown Line, and Sungei Bedok, an interchange that will connect the two lines.
Siow said the addition will link two major rail corridors in the eastern part of the city, offering commuters more travel options and shorter journey times.
He also highlighted the broader expansion plan, noting that the Jurong Region Line is expected to open in mid‑2028 and the Cross Island Line is scheduled for completion in the 2030s.
Singapore’s urban rail network currently spans 275 km across eight lines, and the new stations will bring it closer to its goal of a more connected, efficient public transit system.
