In a joint statement released Monday, Singapore’s Ministry of National Development and Malaysia’s Ministry of Economy announced that the Johor‑Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS‑SEZ) had attracted US$21.8 billion in approved investments between January 2025 and June 2026, with roughly 45% already implemented.

The statement said that 40.3 billion ringgit—about two‑fifths—had been put into hand, creating 12,796 jobs from projects that have been completed or are under construction.

The approved projects are projected to generate a total of 28,755 new employment opportunities across the zone’s 12,000‑hectare area in Johor, Malaysia, and the finance and logistics hubs of Singapore.

The figure was confirmed at the first meeting of the Johor‑Singapore Cooperation Ministerial Committee, which convened in Singapore on Monday. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to accelerate the zone’s development and to deepen bilateral ties between the two countries.

The JS‑SEZ was launched under an agreement signed in January 2025, designed to leverage Johor’s land availability and lower operating costs while tapping Singapore’s strengths in financial services and infrastructure.

"The milestone reflects the value of cross‑border collaboration and highlights the growing confidence of investors in the region," the joint statement added.

Officials expect the remaining approved investment—over US$10 billion—to be activated in the coming year, further expanding the zone’s industrial mix and job‑creation potential.
