On Sunday, November 2 2026, Singapore and Argentina formally activated the Mercosur‑Singapore Free Trade Agreement, completing its rollout for all four Mercosur members, the Singapore Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry and the Argentine Embassy in Singapore said.
The agreement, which now covers trade in goods and services, investment, government procurement, digital trade, intellectual property and economic cooperation, will eliminate import tariffs on about 96 % of products over up to 15 years, with roughly 25 % of tariff lines receiving immediate duty‑free access.

The pact establishes common rules of origin and more transparent customs procedures, and it offers new avenues for cooperation in agriculture, energy, infrastructure, logistics, technology and services.
“Argentina’s position as a major agricultural and food producer supports Singapore’s efforts to diversify food import sources and strengthen food resilience. There are also opportunities in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, logistics, technology and services,” a statement from the Singapore Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry and from the Argentinian Embassy read.
