An assistant head of Pakistan’s police bomb disposal squad was killed on Saturday when an improvised explosive device exploded while he was attempting to defuse it in the Sararogha area of Upper South Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said.
The incident occurred on Nov. 8, 2026, according to police sources. District police officer Ashfaq Khan told local media that the officer sustained critical injuries in the explosion and later succumbed to them.
Police said the officer had successfully neutralised an earlier IED planted in the area before a second device detonated during his current defusal attempt.
