Woman Arrested After Knife Attack Injures Three at Warsaw School

Polish police have taken a 21‑year‑old woman into custody after she used a knife to injure a 17‑year‑old student and two other women at a school in Warsaw. The attacks mark the third armed incident at Polish schools this week.
The 21‑year‑old wielded a so‑called “dangerous object” and forced a 17‑year‑old girl to the hospital, though the victim’s condition is not life‑threatening. Two other injured women, aged 17 and 24, had been visiting the school to submit enrolment documents at the time of the assault.
The suspect was identified as a student at the school. Police have indicated that she likely did not know the three victims. Authorities have not confirmed any direct connection to the earlier stabbings, but there are rumours that the attacks could be linked to an online challenge.
The two earlier school attacks began on 7 and 8 October, when a 19‑year‑old student stabbed nine people at a vocational school in central Poland, and the following day a 37‑year‑old caretaker was killed after a 15‑year‑old entered a primary school in Leszczydół‑Nowiny, north of Warsaw. Since then, police have visited schools across the country, arresting 76 individuals in total.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stressed the importance of safeguarding children, saying there was “no room for compromise” when it comes to school safety. Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński also announced that a 17‑year‑old had been detained after threatening to injure someone on school grounds.
Officials continue to monitor the situation closely as Poland seeks to address the rising trend of knife‑crime, with security measures now tighter at most educational institutions.
