Ukrainian Suspect Behind Monaco Parcel Bomb Identified
A 39‑year‑old Ukrainian woman, anastasiia berezovska, has been identified as the main suspect in a parcel bombing that seriously wounded the sanctioned Ukrainian oligarch Vadym Yermolaiev and injured two others, including a child, in Monaco’s border precinct.
Monaco’s deputy public prosecutor said the suspect was “disguised as a man” and likely did not act alone. Interpol has issued a Red Notice for Berezovska, charging her with attempted murder, placing an explosive device with criminal intent and criminal conspiracy.
The explosion occurred just after 21:00 local time on Monday in the entrance hall of a small apartment building. Three residents – a couple and a 13‑year‑old boy – were inside when the device detonated, causing the first casualties.
Police are investigating potential accomplices as they search for the named suspect. The suspect, pictured on CCTV wearing a dark bucket hat, allegedly fled on foot, then used a hire car to escape to Italy before proceeding to Germany.
A Ukrainian spokeswoman quoted Interpol’s photo‑data, noting her dark shoulder‑length hair and a possible snake tattoo on her right arm. The vehicle used was seized by Hessian police who confirmed a special‑forces search of her rented apartment in the Main‑Taunus district on Thursday.
The three victims, including a child, were taken to Nice University Hospital (CHU), while the child was admitted to Lenval Children's Hospital in non‑critical condition. One adult patient was stable by Wednesday, but the suspect’s wife had not yet recovered. Victims’ identities remain confidential, but local reports suggest the attack targeted the visiting family of oligarch Vadym Yermolaiev, who is a 58‑year‑old real‑estate developer living in Monaco, formerly Ukrainian but now a Cypriot citizen.
Monaco’s Prince Albert II described the incident as a “heinous crime” and praised the cooperation between Monaco and French authorities that enabled rapid suspect identification.
