Three Killed in Israeli Strike on Beirut’s Dahieh Suburb

Lebanon’s state media report that an Israeli air strike on the Beirut suburb of Dahieh killed three people and injured fifteen.

The IDF said it targeted a Hezbollah command centre after the group fired aerial targets at Israel.

The attack comes as Iran pushes to renegotiate a U.S. agreement to curb its missile program, a deal that U.S. President Donald Trump claims could be disrupted by such hostilities. Trump said the strike was a “small, meaningless” attack that should not interfere with the potential peace deal.

Iran’s officials warned that the Israeli attack would not go unanswered, while U.S. officials viewed the strikes as a setback to diplomatic hopes. Israel maintains that its operations in Lebanon are separate from any negotiations with Iran and continues to strike Hezbollah positions.

The conflict, starting in March after Hezbollah rockets struck Israel, now sees Israel and the U.S. launching strikes across Iran, while Iran counterattacks have intensified in the Gulf.

With a ceasefire agreed in April, intermittent fire continues, and the region remains volatile as regional powers seek to influence the outcomes of peace talks.
