TUCSON, Ariz. (RTW) — Savannah Guthrie, the beloved host of NBC’s “Today” show, is urgently appealing for prayers as her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, is feared to have been taken against her will in Tucson, Arizona. In a social media update late Monday, Savannah conveyed her deep concern for her mother, emphasizing her strong faith and urging the public to raise their prayers. Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, she wrote.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is treating Nancy’s disappearance as a possible abduction and is intensifying efforts to locate her. Sheriff Chris Nanos highlighted the critical nature of Nancy's health condition, noting that she could face life-threatening issues without her medication, which she was last seen with on Saturday night at her residence.

Authorities were alerted to her absence after a church member reported that Nancy was missing, prompting family members to conduct a search and subsequently call 911. Given her limited mobility, officials have stated that they do not believe Nancy left her home voluntarily. The sheriff has described the operation as less of a search mission and more as an active investigation into a crime scene.

In a combined effort, search teams have been using drones, search dogs, and receive assistance from local volunteers along with the Border Patrol. The involvement of federal agencies, including the FBI, has been requested as the search for Nancy continues. While rescue operations have faced some restrictions, Nanos assured that efforts would persist until Nancy is found.

“We are doing everything we can to bring Nancy home,” stated Nanos during a recent press briefing. As communities rally in support, Savannah remains in Tucson, adding a personal touch to the urgent search for her mother.
