Police in the Bahamas have released a Michigan man who reported that his wife disappeared after falling overboard from their small boat. Brian Hooker, a resident of Onsted, Michigan, was in custody shortly after his wife, Lynette Hooker, 55, went missing. Hooker stated that Lynette fell overboard on April 4 while they were traveling in an 8-foot motorboat from Hope Town to Elbow Cay.
Following the incident, Hooker explained that his wife had the keys to the boat, which resulted in the engine shutting off and ultimately forced him to paddle back to shore. Law enforcement claimed that strong currents carried Lynette away from the vessel, and he lost sight of her.
Hooker reported his wife’s disappearance early the next day. After consulting with prosecutors, authorities decided not to file charges against him for now, as investigations are still active. Emotions ran high as Hooker expressed his belief that his wife is still alive, stating, 'I won’t be able to stop looking.'
The U.S. Coast Guard has initiated a separate investigation as the family holds hope for Lynette's safe return. The couple, who chronicled their sailing adventures on their 'Sailing Hookers' Facebook page, has been married for over 20 years.
Lynette's daughter, Karli Aylesworth, expressed skepticism about her mother's falling overboard, citing her sailing experience. The Hookers have faced allegations of domestic disputes in the past, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding Lynette's disappearance.
