Israeli forces carried out fresh air strikes on the Nabatieh al‑Fawqa area and the outskirts of Kfar Tebnit in southern Lebanon, according to the state‑run National News Agency. The attacks come as Israel continues to target positions of the Iran‑backed Hezbollah group.

The strikes, said officials, were part of Israel’s long‑standing campaign against Hezbollah in that region and were framed as a response to cross‑border rocket fire. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the operation.

Earlier that week, President Donald Trump voiced strong criticism of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the G7 summit in France. Trump urged Netanyahu to “be more responsible with respect to Lebanon,” saying the fight against Hezbollah had gone on “too long” and that “too many people are being killed.” The former president stated that he would read the US‑Iran agreement between the two nations “word by word” at a forthcoming news conference.

The US‑Iran deal, agreed on Sunday, has not been released publicly. Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi warned that any Israeli attack on Lebanese territory would be a violation of the interim agreement. The agreement is expected to be signed in Switzerland on Friday, according to Swiss Foreign Ministry officials.

Israel’s Defense Forces have reiterated that they will remain in Lebanon for as long as necessary, a stance that underscores the tension in a fragile ceasefire that “may be strained by daily exchanges.”

The rapid escalation and diplomatic backlash highlight the volatility of the region amid a rapidly evolving political landscape.
