Equatorial Guinea’s Gov$n Resigns Over Poor Performance

Equatorial Guinea’s cabinet discontinued operations after the administration failed to deliver on its development targets, Vice‑President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue said on .

The president’s son, who built his career alongside his father, declared that the Prime Minister Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua unveiled the resignation of all ministers because the collective effort reached less than 10% of the planned goals.

A statement from the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea detailed allegations of corruption, misuse of state resources, and an absence of progress in diversifying public projects.

President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, who has ruled for almost five decades and appointed family members to key posts, has criticized the mismanagement and will convene a new governing body.

The country’s economy remains largely dependent on petroleum exports, while widespread poverty persists and economic growth is constrained as oil production and demand decline.

An interim cabinet is expected soon, and the administration aims to steer reforms toward agricultural development and reduce reliance on imported goods.
