In brief

On 31 October 2026, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture announced a 24.3‑million‑tonne grain harvest, the most since 2001. Grain exports rose 9 % to 1.657 million tonnes in the first nine weeks of 2026, while the two‑year total reached 31.5 million tonnes—both record highs. The achievement places Kazakhstan among the world’s leading grain producers.

On 31 October 2026 the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture announced that Kazakhstan harvested 24.3 million tonnes of grain during the 2026 harvesting campaign, one of the highest volumes in the past 15 years, according to Xinhua.

The ministry said only two prior years—2011 and 2012—had higher yields, making the 2026 harvest one of the strongest in recent history.

Grain exports, reported by the national railway operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, reached 1.657 million tonnes from September through 19 October 2026, up 9 % from the same period the year before.

Export Highlights

Over the last two marketing years, which cover September 2024 to August 2025 and September 2025 to August 2026, Kazakhstan exported 15.5 million tonnes and 16 million tonnes of grain and flour in grain equivalent, respectively, both figures constituting record highs since independence, the ministry added.

The 24.3‑million‑tonne harvest supports Kazakhstan’s position as one of the world’s top grain producers and enhances its strategic role in global food markets.
