H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi of Fujairah met Leonid Mikhelson, chairman of Russian oil company Novatek, at Al Rumailah Palace on 1 November 2026 to discuss joint development projects in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ). The meeting was attended by Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhani, Director of the Fujairah Emiri Court; Mohammed Al Afkham, Director General of Fujairah Municipality; and Salem Al Afkham, Director of FOIZ. The two sides reviewed a number of development projects aimed at expanding the zone’s operational and investment capabilities to keep pace with the energy sector’s rapid growth.

The discussion also covered future plans for continued development of the FOIZ and enhancing its infrastructure and related services, underscoring the importance of strengthening cooperation with Russia in the energy sector and related industries.
