In brief

The Ukrainian Air Force said its public air‑raid alert app was briefly hacked on Sunday, displaying a nuclear alert that quickly disappeared. Officials attribute the intrusion to enemy influence and urged civilians to remain calm. The incident, confirmed by Telegram posts, has not yet triggered any physical threat.

Ukraine’s Air Force announced on Sunday that its public air‑raid alert app had been briefly hacked, showing a false nuclear alert in Kyiv that later vanished. The incident was confirmed by the Air Force’s Telegram channel, which described the abnormality as a short‑lived glitch.

According to the Air Force, the app for a brief period displayed a nuclear warning for Kyiv and other areas. The alert abruptly disappeared after a few minutes, and the app returned to normal operation.

"The air alert app appears to have been subjected to enemy influence," the Ukrainian Air Force wrote on Telegram.

Following the disclosure, the air force issued a warning, saying, "There is no radiation threat! Stay calm and follow our updates on our channel!"

While the Air Force attributes the breach to enemy influence, no independent source has confirmed the motive or the technical details of the hack. The event has thus been confirmed only as a temporary cybersecurity incident with no lasting impact on the app’s functionality. Civilians in Kyiv and other affected regions were advised to rely on official updates and remain calm.
