In Sofia, Bulgaria, the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation announced that medical residency applications can now be submitted online through a new national portal, effective 26 September 2025.
The portal centralizes all vacant residency positions across the country, allowing doctors to search openings, submit applications, and track their status entirely in an electronic environment.
Applicants can use a qualified electronic signature to authenticate their submissions, and every interaction between candidates and training institutions is handled within the system to ensure greater transparency and traceability.
The platform was developed by Information Services, a division of the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation, in coordination with the Health Ministry.
