A Russian drone attack on a market in southern Ukraine has killed five people and injured 21, including a 14-year-old girl, as confirmed by the prosecutor general's office. The incident occurred at 9:50 AM local time in the town of Nikopol, near the Dnipro River and adjacent to territory occupied by Russian forces. Photos released by the regional prosecutor depict significant damage, with wreckage scattered across the area.

This strike comes shortly after at least 15 civilians were reportedly killed in various drone and missile strikes across Ukraine, highlighting the ongoing violence that persists despite calls for peace. Additionally, a Ukrainian drone and missile attack on the city of Taganrog in Russia resulted in at least one casualty and four injuries.

Regional governor Yuri Slyusar disclosed that the Russian attack ignited a fire in a logistics facility in Taganrog.

Spokespersons from Ukraine’s Defense Ministry accused Russian air defenses of causing these civilian casualties and claimed a targeted strike on a factory in Togliatti that produced military components. Nikopol, frequently the target of such assaults, is home to about 100,000 residents, many of whom have already fled for safety.

Notably, two individuals were injured in a follow-up strike at the same location, prompting investigations into potential war crimes. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has extended a truce offer to Russia for the Easter holiday, although Moscow has yet to respond.

In a significant escalation, the Ukrainian Air Force reports that nearly 300 drones were deployed by Russia, leading to casualties in other regions like Kharkiv and Sumy. Moscow, in turn, claims to have intercepted 85 Ukrainian drones amidst this surge in daytime attacks, which were previously uncommon.
