Polish Schools on Edge as 3rd Knife Attack Injures Three: Woman Arrested
The 21‑year‑old attacker was apprehended by police after a knife strike at a Warsaw school left three people wounded. The youngest victim was a 17‑year‑old girl, while two other women, aged 17 and 24, sustained injuries when they entered the building to submit enrolment documents.
The incident follows two earlier knife attacks this week. On 7 October, a 19‑year‑old student stabbed nine people at a vocational school in central Poland, and the next day a 37‑year‑old caretaker was killed after a 15‑year‑old entered a primary school in Leszczydół‑Nowiny.
Polish police have detained 76 people since the outbreak of these attacks and have urged schools to enhance security measures. Prime Minister Donald Tusk underscored that there is no compromise on children’s safety and called for stringent action.
Investigators suspect the attacks might be linked to an internet challenge, though no definitive connection has yet been confirmed. Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński reported that a 17‑year‑old was detained in Sierpc after threatening to commit a violent act on school grounds.
The latest assault has intensified concerns about knife crime across Polish schools, prompting an urgent review of safety protocols and a nationwide police sweep.
