WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — In a tragic turn of events, a planned fight among youths at Leinbach Park led to a mass shooting on Monday morning, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. near Jefferson Middle School, as reported by the Winston-Salem police through their social media channels.

According to Assistant Chief Jason Swaim, the conflict broke out between two juveniles who had arranged to meet at the park. During the altercation, a firearm was discharged, leading to multiple injuries. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation confirmed that several were shot, including the two fatalities.

Swaim mentioned that investigators have identified numerous people involved in the shooting, but they were still sorting out their roles—whether as suspects, victims, or witnesses. He reassured the public that nearby schools, including Jefferson Middle School, were secure and that parents could safely retrieve their children.
