Kyiv Mayor Reports Second Bridge Hit by Russian Drone Strike
Russian forces hit Kyiv's Northern Bridge with a drone, damaging the road surface and trolleybus cables, marking the second major bridge strike in the city.
A Russian drone strike has damaged Kyiv’s Northern Bridge, the city’s second major bridge to be targeted in recent days, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The assault inflicted damage to the road surface and trolleybus overhead wires, disrupting traffic between the city’s eastern and western halves. The attack follows a spate of drone strikes on the Southern Bridge, signalling a new, intensifying phase of Moscow’s campaign. Klitschko warned that such assaults are tearing Kyiv apart and pressurising the city’s critical infrastructure. Ukraine’s officials maintain the strikes are retaliation for Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy sites, though Moscow first launched the strikes.
The Northern Bridge is the second major bridge to be targeted by Russia in recent days, Kyiv's mayor said.
Russian forces struck Kyiv’s Northern Bridge with a drone, damaging the road surface and the trolleybus overhead wires, the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, confirmed on Telegram.
The strike comes after the Southern Bridge suffered multiple drone attacks since Thursday, signalling a new and more aggressive phase in Moscow’s campaign.
Klitschko warned that “intensified Russian drone and missile strikes are tearing Kyiv apart,” noting that the city’s critical infrastructure, logistics and housing are under mounting pressure.
Ukraine’s officials say the strikes are in response to Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy sites, though Moscow had launched the initial assaults.
