At least 20 Palestinians, including several children and a paramedic, have been killed and almost 40 others wounded in Israeli strikes in Gaza, as reported by local hospitals. The Israeli military has stated that these strikes were 'precise actions' against individuals they labeled 'terrorists' who allegedly opened fire on troops in northern Gaza, causing serious injuries to an Israeli officer. This incident occurred near the Yellow Line, where Israeli forces are stationed, and has been described as a blatant violation of a three-month ceasefire agreement with Hamas.

Hamas has responded by accusing Israel of manipulating the situation as a pretext for continued aggression against Palestinian civilians. Health officials from Al-Shifa hospital noted that they received 13 bodies of individuals, including five children, who died when strikes hit tents and homes in the eastern neighborhoods of Zeitoun and Tuffah.

One mourner, Abu Mohammed Haboush, shared his sorrow, stating that his family was asleep when the strikes occurred, resulting in the deaths of several relatives. Reports from Khan Younis also highlighted further casualties, including the deaths of two sisters and a paramedic who fell victim to consecutive strikes in the coastal al-Mawasi area.

The International Committee of the Red Cross condemned the killing of the paramedic and called attention to the risks that first responders face while conducting humanitarian missions. The Israeli Defense Forces justified the al-Mawasi strike by identifying a Hamas leader who allegedly orchestrated attacks on Israeli territory.

This recent wave of violence follows a heightened period of hostility marked by a significant Israeli military campaign in Gaza initiated after Hamas's attack on southern Israel in October 2023, which resulted in substantial casualties on both sides.
