TUCSON, Ariz. (RTW News) — The authorities in Tucson are continuing their search for Nancy Guthrie, the mother of 'Today' show host Savannah Guthrie, who has been missing since Saturday night. The Pima County Sheriff's Department indicated that there are no suspects in the case, which shows signs of forced entry into her home.
According to Sheriff Chris Nanos, detectives believe that Nancy was taken against her will and does not have the capacity to leave on her accord due to her limited mobility. Nanos stated that investigators are working closely with the family while maintaining communication with the community during this critical search.
As part of the investigation, the sheriff's department has received potential ransom notes, which they are taking seriously. The public has been urged to provide any tips regarding Nancy’s last known whereabouts and any interactions they may have had with her.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, with her family reporting her missing the following day after failing to locate her at home. Authorities discovered signs suggestive of a kidnapping at her residence, including the absence of her cellphone, wallet, and car, indicating foul play. Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance videos and analyzing data from local cellphone towers.
This ongoing situation has captured national attention, with Savannah Guthrie missing from her anchor duties as she prioritizes the well-being of her family. Nancy, a strong figure in Savannah's life, has been described by her daughter as a source of faith and support.
