A Russian man has been found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm after Donald Trump's son, Barron Trump, informed UK police that he had witnessed a woman being attacked during a video call. The incident, which took place in January 2025, led to the conviction of 22-year-old Matvei Rumiantsev at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Prosecutors revealed that the attack stemmed from Rumiantsev's jealousy over the woman's friendship with Trump. The court heard that Rumiantsev was also convicted of perverting the course of justice and was found not guilty of rape and intentional strangulation related to past incidents.

During his trial, it was revealed that Trump contacted the authorities shortly after witnessing the alleged violence on January 18, saying, I'm calling from the US, uh I just got a call from a girl, you know, she's getting beat up.

The jury was cautioned about relying solely on Trump's video evidence, as he had not testified in court. Rumiantsev claimed that his actions were fueled by jealousy, asserting that he felt wronged by the woman's interactions with Trump. The case drew significant media attention as it involved the son of a former U.S. President witnessing and reporting a crime.

The trial's evidence concluded that the woman suffered facial injuries during the attack, highlighting the serious nature of Rumiantsev's conduct. The court's ruling emphasizes the repercussions of domestic violence and the importance of intervention, as demonstrated by Trump's prompt reporting of the crime.
