On Friday, a passenger bus collided with a dumper truck near the Havelian interchange in Abbottabad district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing eight and injuring 30, Rescue 1122 officials said.
The bus was traveling from Gilgit to Rawalpindi when the incident occurred. Rescue 1122 dispatched seven ambulances and a rescue vehicle to the site and moved all 30 injured passengers, including five children and six women, to Ayub Medical Complex.
An initial report from local police suggested a tire burst may have caused the bus driver to lose control, but that claim remains unconfirmed.
Medics feared the death toll might rise as four of the injured were in critical condition, and the bodies of the eight deceased, who reportedly came from Gilgit, were taken to hospitals in the area.
