At least ten civilians were killed and several houses were set ablaze in an overnight attack by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in Cantine‑Aloya, a locality in Beni territory, North Kivu, eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, local media reported Friday.
Confirmed
The attack, said to have taken place Thursday into Friday, involved armed assailants entering the settlement and killing residents while setting fire to homes and commercial buildings. A head of a local civil society organization, Tchetche Aliamini, confirmed the attack and reported extensive damage to civilian property, according to local outlets. The ADF, an affiliate of the Islamic State in Central Africa, has been the focus of joint Congolese–Ugandan military operations since 2021.

Some local outlets say the death toll could exceed 20, that some bodies were still at the scene, and that many residents fled their homes amid the violence. These figures have not yet been verified by official authorities.
