In brief

Former President Donald Trump announced that Elon Musk has restored internet access for Ukraine after a period of restricted Starlink service. Trump confirmed the cut‑off was lifted, citing a personal call with Musk. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskiy had earlier warned that the bandwidth was still below the level needed for effective drone operations. The White House maintains it never ordered the slowdown, while SpaceX says its military system is governed by Pentagon policy. For more on the dispute, see the Wall Street Journal report.

Donald Trump told reporters that Elon Musk had restored Ukraine’s internet access after a period of restricted service.

He added that Mr. Musk “has put it back”, a claim that follows comments from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy who said the speed of the Starlink system was still below the 400 km/h level needed for effective drone operations.

Starlink, the satellite‑based network run by SpaceX, has been used for battlefield communications and early‑warning systems in the conflict. Restrictions on the service were reportedly in place after the United States lifted sanctions on Russia to secure diesel for its own market.

The White House says it never ordered the slowdown, and SpaceX maintains that the military‑grade Starlink version is fully governed by Pentagon directives.
