In brief

A commuter bus on the Lugansk‑Zimogorye route was struck in the LPR, killing one and injuring eight, per LPR head Leonid Pasechnik and Izvestia reports. Pasechnik called the attack deliberate terror by the ‘neo‑Nazis’, but there is no independent confirmation from Ukrainian sources. The incident has not yet been corroborated by other officials.

A commuter bus on the Lugansk–Zimogorye route in the Lugansk People’s Republic was struck, killing one civilian and injuring eight others, according to RIA and LPR head Leonid Pasechnik, as reported on 17 July 2026.

The bus was traveling along the Lugansk‑Zimogorye corridor when it was hit at the Rodakovo‑Zheltoye motoray section within the Slavyanoserbsky municipality, placing the incident squarely within LPR‑controlled territory.

Leonid Pasechnik

“The Kiev regime continues terror against civilians in the republic. This evening, the neo‑Nazis deliberately attacked a Lugansk‑Zimogorye commuter bus at the Rodakovo‑Zheltoye motoray section in the Slavyanoserbsky municipality. According to preliminary data, one person died, eight others were injured,” he wrote on the messaging app Max.

Izvestia reported that “one was killed and eight others were injured when the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked a bus en route from Lugansk to Zimogorye in the LPR.” The report echoes Pasechnik’s casualty figures and the location, but the Izvestia piece does not provide additional detail beyond the claim of Ukrainian participation.

While both the LPR’s statement and the Izvestia article confirm the death and injuries, neither source offers independent verification of the attack’s cause, the weapon used, or confirmation from Ukrainian authorities. The Ukrainian side has not yet issued a statement regarding this incident, leaving the attribution of responsibility and operational details unconfirmed.
