In a dramatic incident late Tuesday, a fire broke out in a luxury skyscraper in Buenos Aires, Argentina, prompting a swift evacuation of more than 100 residents. Emergency services reported that the blaze affected multiple floors of the 50-story building, situated in the exclusive Puerto Madero neighborhood.

Authorities have confirmed that forty individuals were treated for smoke inhalation, with several requiring hospitalization. The situation was managed effectively, with firefighters eventually bringing the fire under control. The precise cause of the incident remains unknown.

Alberto Crescenti, who oversees Buenos Aires emergency services, provided insights to local media regarding the severity of the flames, noting that they had "extended all the way to the 15th floor," leading to broken glass raining down from the structure. He remarked that the evacuation process was executed promptly, minimizing any potential risk to the residents.

Firefighter Christian Benitez confirmed that all individuals had successfully escaped the building without serious injury. One resident, 30-year-old Ornella Gril, recounted her experience, “I heard the fire alarm and came downstairs as quickly as I could,” she said.

Among those evacuated was former Argentine footballer Mariano Pavone, who expressed his relief that he and his family, including his dog, escaped unharmed. He shared, "I saw smoke and went down with my son and my dog. Luckily nothing happened to my flat. I'm anxious for my neighbours. Luckily it was just a scare."

While emergency services continue to assess the scene, the incident has underscored the importance of rapid evacuation procedures in high-rise buildings.
