In brief

President Trump has cancelled his scheduled rallies in Iowa and Kansas and will instead host virtual "tele‑rallies" in roughly 20 states, a move confirmed by the RNC. RNC chair Joe Gruters said the broadcast format is more efficient and will reach more voters. Trump will still hold a rally in Daytona Beach, Florida, and health concerns were cited as a reason for reduced travel.

On Oct 29, President Donald Trump announced the cancellation of his rallies in Iowa and Kansas and will instead host televised "tele‑rallies" across 20 states.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) confirmed the cancellations in a statement and unveiled the tele‑rallies, according to Al Jazeera and CNN coverage.

RNC Chairman Joe Gruters said that the virtual appearances will be more efficient, reaching more voters than on‑the‑ground stops.

Voters across the country want to hear from President Trump before Election Day, and this 72‑hour sprint will be a huge boost in the closing days,

Gruters added the tele‑rallies will be broadcast to nearly 20 states including battlegrounds such as Michigan, Alaska, Texas and Iowa.

The announcement came with less than five days to the November 3 midterm election and follows reports that health concerns have influenced the decision to reduce travel.

Trump’s rally in Daytona Beach, Florida will still proceed as planned.
