Russian forces launched a missile attack on Kyiv early Saturday morning, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, damaging residential buildings and injuring two people.
The strike struck a five-storey apartment building in a western district of the capital, and the façade of a second residential building was also damaged. A structure housing a kindergarten sustained damage. City officials said that debris from the attack had injured two residents.
Klitschko wrote on Telegram: “Explosions in the Kyiv suburbs. The enemy is hitting infrastructure with ballistic missiles.”
The city’s military administration posted a similar note on Telegram, citing the injuries and the damage to the kindergarten building.
In a nightly video address earlier that day, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy repeated that Russia was preparing new attacks on energy targets, bridges and other infrastructure.
Reuters reports that the attack came three days before U.S.-led talks between Ukrainian and Russian negotiators were set to open in Abu Dhabi, seeking a resolution to the 4‑½‑year‑old war.
At this time, the number of missiles fired and the exact targeting remain unconfirmed, as no independent verification has yet been released.
