On Nov. 6, 2026, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told reporters in Moscow that Russia has made no substantive progress toward normalizing relations with the United States.

In response to a question about Russia‑U.S. relations at a press briefing on Thursday, Zakharova said that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had discussed bilateral issues within multilateral frameworks, including the United Nations, the Group of Twenty and the Asia‑Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.

She added that no tangible progress has been achieved within those discussions. No Russian diplomatic property has been returned and no direct flights between the two countries have resumed.

Zakharova also noted that dialogue with the United States at various levels has continued in a generally business‑like manner, according to the Xinhua report.
