Nine civilians were wounded Saturday when Russian airstrikes hit Kyiv, the Ukrainian State Emergency Service (DSNS) said in a Telegram statement. The series of attacks, carried out overnight, caused damage to residential buildings, a kindergarten and a non‑residential structure in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district, according to the DSNS.

Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, said his city’s infrastructure was hit by ballistic missiles. He reported that the Pivnichnyi Bridge was damaged and that traffic has been shut down pending an assessment. Klitschko also said energy facilities in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions had been hit, stressing that the capital’s heating and water systems were severely affected and that workers were working to restore services.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed that a person was killed in the broader region surrounding the capital following the strikes. He said five districts were targeted and that twelve other regions also came under attack.

Volodymyr Zelenskiy posted on X that the overnight attacks injured nine people in total and accused Russia of using 172 drones and 36 ballistic missiles. He called for international intervention as the attacks “attempt to plunge Kyiv into blackout.”

Russian authorities have counter‑accused Ukraine of striking residential infrastructure, warehouses and production facilities in multiple regions. They claim Ukrainian attacks damaged residential buildings, warehouses and production facilities, though this has yet to be verified by independent observers.

These incidents come amid escalating tensions just before US‑mediated peace talks in Abu Dhabi, with both sides exchanging accusations of targeting civilian sites.
