At least eight Palestinians, including five police officers, were killed in two Israeli airstrikes on Sunday, local and medical sources report. The attacks targeted an area west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza and a gathering in the al‑Rimal neighborhood west of Gaza City, raising the fatal toll of police officers killed by Israel to 75 since the October 2025 ceasefire.

In the first strike, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a group of Palestinians and police personnel in Al‑Mawasi, west of Khan Younis. The Nasser Medical Complex said at least five people were killed and several others wounded, some seriously, and Hamas‑run interior authorities confirmed that five members of the General Directorate of Police were killed while performing routine duties. The authorities also said that Israeli attacks have killed 75 police officers since the ceasefire.

The second strike hit an area in al‑Rimal, west of Gaza City, where a gathering was occurring. Medical sources reported that three Palestinians, including a child, were killed and six others wounded, some critically. The exact details of the target were not disclosed by Israeli officials.

Gaza's health authorities announced a cumulative toll of 1,580 Palestinians killed and 5,711 wounded in the enclave since the October 2025 ceasefire, bringing the total since the conflict began on Oct. 7, 2023, to 74,594 dead and 175,834 wounded. The strikes add to the growing casualties in the region.

The Israeli military has not provided an immediate comment on either strike, leaving the details of the attacks still unconfirmed from the officials’ side.
