A cyclone named Murasu rolled in off India’s southern coast early Tuesday, delivering winds of up to 120 km/h and heavy rains that left thousands of residents in Andhra Pradesh seeking shelter, Xinhua reported. The local disaster‑management department confirmed the hit and warned that while the power grid remained intact, many trees were uprooted.

Xinhua’s account stated that there had been no reports of human casualties, despite the scale of the storm, and that more than 20 flights, including several international services, were either cancelled or diverted from airports in Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring Tamil Nadu. The storm’s timing made it the second intense cyclone in the region in a span of one week; the preceding cyclone, Arnab, had caused over ten deaths in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, according to Xinhua’s prior coverage.

A brief report from Business Recorder echoed the key details, noting that no deaths or injuries had been reported and that trees were damaged. The two sources converge on the absence of casualties, while the financial‑market‑heavy site offered no additional information on the atmospheric conditions or the exact number of affected people.
