In Tunis, on 4 November 2026, civil defence training managers from Arab nations convened for their first meeting at the Secretariat General for Arab Ministers of Interior at the Arab League headquarters. The gathering was chaired by the Secretary General of the Arab Ministers of Interior and included representatives from the ministries of interior of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and other member states, as well as observers from the Naïf Arab University of Security Sciences and the Arab League Secretariat.
The Saudi delegation was led by Brig. Gen. Abdul‑Hadi bin Mohammed Al‑Qahtani, the Deputy General Director of Human Resources at the Saudi Ministry of Interior’s Civil Defence. His presence underscored the kingdom’s commitment to standardizing civil defence training across the Arab world.
Participants discussed a range of agenda items, emphasising ways to strengthen cooperation and exchange lessons learned. Key topics included establishing common training standards, harmonising curricula for civil defence officers, and identifying best‑practice models that could be replicated across national institutions.
Delegates agreed to set up a working group to draft a joint training framework and to plan regular follow‑up meetings. They also resolved to coordinate future joint exercises and to facilitate visits that would allow staff to observe training methods in other Arab countries. The meeting concluded with an expression of mutual determination to improve preparedness and response capabilities through shared knowledge and resources.
