NASHVILLE, Tenn. (RTWNews) — Country music star Morgan Wallen is seen in newly released police footage disputing accusations that he threw a chair off the roof of a bar in Nashville before being arrested for reckless endangerment. The incident unfolded in April 2024 and has since become a significant discussion point for fans and the media alike.
In a statement posted on social media two weeks after his arrest, Wallen expressed regret for his behavior, saying, I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility,” and mentioned that he has made amends with law enforcement and others involved. Ultimately, he pleaded guilty to two counts of reckless endangerment in December 2024.
The Nashville Police Department released footage showing Wallen’s interactions with officers, where he initially denied any wrongdoing. An officer at the scene indicated they were investigating after a chair was reportedly thrown and landed by a patrol car.
While the footage does not provide definitive proof of his actions, testimonies from witnesses claimed to have seen him throw the chair. Throughout the encounter, Wallen reportedly expressed a desire to resolve matters amicably, stating, I didn’t mean to cause harm, and repeatedly apologized to the officers.
Wallen, who is a prominent figure in the current country music scene, has faced several controversies in the past, including previous arrests and public scrutiny for his actions. Despite these incidents, he remains a favorite among fans for his music, solidifying his place in the industry with successful releases.
After pleading guilty in December 2024, Wallen was sentenced to seven days at a DUI education center and two years of supervised probation. His legal troubles, however, are set to potentially be dismissed upon completion of his probation period.
