ZDF Deletes Intro After Musk Lawsuit Threat

ZDF has removed the opening segment of a report that claimed tech billionaire Elon Musk called for migrants to be hunted in Northern Ireland.

The decision followed a violent knife attack in north Belfast last week that caused widespread unrest and had a Sudanese suspect arrested.

ZDF said the wording was "misleading", and after Musk demanded a "cease and desist" via a German law firm the broadcaster corrected the segment and added a transparency notice.

Musk tweeted he would take legal action over the broadcast and accused ZDF of "outrageous lies". He has previously faced criticism for using his platform to amplify anti‑migrant narratives.

The incident comes as the Centre for Countering Digital Hate reports that social media fuelled violence in Belfast, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has called Musk "whipping up division" over a recent murder case.

With the situation still developing, listeners and audiences watch closely as legal and media battles unfold.
