BOSTON (AP) — Two men from Massachusetts have been arrested in connection with a troubling explosion that took place at Harvard Medical School over the weekend, officials announced on Tuesday. The FBI's Boston office made the announcement on social media shortly before a scheduled 1 p.m. news conference but withheld specific details regarding the arrests.
The explosion occurred early Saturday morning on the fourth floor of the Goldenson Building, which is home to various labs and offices linked to the school’s neurobiology department. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported from the incident.
Medical school authorities assured that there was no structural damage to the building, and all labs and equipment remained unharmed. Following the explosion, the Boston Fire Department confirmed that it was intentional. However, police indicated that no additional devices were discovered in the subsequent sweep of the building.
An alert officer responding to the fire alarm spotted two individuals fleeing the scene at the time of the explosion, leading to the ongoing investigation.
