At least three Palestinian women have been killed and eight more injured after missile debris hit a beauty salon in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) says.
The PRCS reported that shrapnel struck the site in the town of Beit Awwa, near Hebron, in the southern West Bank. The official Palestinian news agency Wafa stated that fragments landed on a metal caravan used as a salon and in several other locations in the West Bank.
In a separate incident, a Thai worker was killed from shrapnel that hit a farming community in Israel, according to Israeli medics. This incident took place on Wednesday night, shortly after Israel's military indicated it was working to intercept an Iranian missile attack.
Wafa identified the women killed in the salon as 17-year-old Mais Ghazi Masalmeh, 50-year-old Sahira Rizq Masalmeh, and 36-year-old Amal Sobhi Abdel Karim Matawa' Masalmeh. PRCS teams arrived at the scene with at least five ambulances and found multiple casualties. The bodies of the three women were transferred to a local hospital along with other victims who sustained critical and moderate injuries.
Originally, PRCS reported four women killed but later revised the total to three. They faced significant obstacles in reaching the site due to locked gates, which hindered their ability to assist the injured promptly.
In Israel, the deceased Thai worker was found in Moshav Adanim, about 12 miles northeast of Tel Aviv. Israel's Magen David Adom emergency service reported that metal shrapnel was scattered across the scene. He has not yet been identified.
The BBC has reached out to the Israeli military for further comments.
