Teen Girl Charged With Murder After Livestreaming Mosque Attack
A 17‑year‑old girl from North Carolina has been charged with murder by aiding and abetting after prosecutors say she recorded a livestream of an attack on an Islamic Center in San Diego, which left three people dead.
The girl also published a manifesto from the two teenage gunmen who carried out the attack on May 18. The indictment came after her arrest last week, and she now faces three murder charges and one count of conspiracy.
During the incident, a security guard named Amin Abdullah exchanged gunfire with the attackers and initiated a lockdown that protected around 140 children in the building. Abdullah and two worshippers were fatally shot.
Investigators revealed the gunmen recorded the assault using helmet‐mounted GoPro cameras. They also had a crossbow and around 30 firearms, which were allegedly taken from a parent’s house.
The militants’ notes contained racist, antisemitic, and white supremacist language, and referenced the 2019 Christchurch massacre as a model.
Law enforcement officials warned that the teenage girl could have planned further attacks on a local Jewish temple and a predominantly African‑American high school. This case highlights the growing threat posed by online extremist propaganda and the impact of teenage gun violence.
