ATLANTA (RTW) — Olaolukitan Adon Abel, a British immigrant who served in the U.S. Navy, has been charged in connection with a series of deadly attacks in the suburbs of Atlanta that have raised alarm, even drawing responses from high government officials.

At the age of 26, Abel is accused of murdering two women, one of whom was employed by the Department of Homeland Security, and critically injuring a homeless man in the assaults late Monday night.

Markwayne Mullin, the Secretary of Homeland Security, described the shootings as acts of pure evil, expressing disquiet given Abel's acquisition of U.S. citizenship in 2022.

Violent Rampage Across Suburbs

The first shooting took place around 1 a.m. near a Decatur-area restaurant, where 31-year-old Prianna Weathers was found dead due to gunshot wounds. Following this, at approximately 2 a.m., a homeless man was shot while resting outside a grocery store in Brookhaven and remains in critical condition.

Finally, around 7 a.m., DHS employee Lauren Bullis, 40, was tragically discovered near Panthersville, having sustained both gunshot and stabbing injuries. Despite immediate medical attention, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities were able to connect the dots among the three attacks, suggesting that at least one victim was chosen randomly.

A statement from Bullis' family reported her dedication to running, reading, and travel, mentioning that her warmth had influenced many around her. She was cherished as a supportive figure by her colleagues at DHS, with one describing her as the nicest, sweetest person they'd ever known.

The military records indicate that Abel enlisted in the Navy in 2020 and served in Coronado, California, where he reportedly received accolades for his performance. However, he has a history of legal issues, having pled guilty in California to assaulting police officers in 2024.
