Divine Lunga Survives Gun Attack in Johannesburg

Zimbabwean footballer Divine Lunga survived a sudden gun attack while driving in the Hillbrow suburb of Johannesburg on Sunday. The incident was reported by local media when his car was shot at by an unknown gunman, yet Lunga emerged unharmed.

Lunga, aged 31, is a defender for the Zimbabwe national team and South African club Mamelodi Sundowns. In the club he has helped win four domestic league titles and the African Champions League in May.

Police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed the incident as an attempted murder investigation. No arrests have been made and authorities are still looking for the gunman who mistakenly fired at Lunga, who was on his way to church with his younger brother.

Crime remains a major concern in South Africa, which has one of the world's highest murder rates. The incident has drawn widespread attention within the football community and on social media, with Zimbabwe’s national team, known as the Warriors, posting a prayerful image of Lunga and the caption "In God we trust."
