A delegation led by Minister of Public Security and Immigration Ali Ahmat Aghabach has been dispatched to investigate and promote dialogue.

At least 25 people were killed and 22 injured in intercommunal clashes on a border between Chad’s western provinces of Hadjer‑Lamis and Barh el Gazel, according to a Xinhua report released on Nov. 1. The violence, which took place late Saturday, involved two so‑called "sister communities" near the provincial boundary.

The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization said that 39 people were detained in connection with the violence and that they were being transferred to the capital N’Djamena for judicial proceedings. An alternate statement from the ministry later cited 49 arrests, indicating a discrepancy in the figures reported.

In response, the government dispatched a delegation to the affected area. The delegation was led by Ali Ahmat Aghabach, Minister of Public Security and Immigration, to investigate the incident, establish responsibility, and ensure proper judicial process. The ministry also pledged to foster dialogue between the communities to restore peace and prevent further escalation.

Chadian intercommunal clashes are not uncommon and often stem from disputes over resources such as water and land. The current incident underscores the fragile security situation along the border zones of the country’s western provinces.
